An operation that was conducted on a two-and-a-half-year-old infant in the Kananke area in Imaduwa has been successful. The infant underwent an eye operation after a knife had pierced the eye of the infant.The girl, a resident of the Kananke area in Imaduwa,galle met with this accident when she tripped and fell while walking towards her mother with the knife in hand.
A 2h operation was conducted by Neurosurgeon Dr. Deepal Attanayake in the Karapitiya Hospital. Girl's mother said:
“After cutting a mango for my children I left the knife on a table. She had taken the knife from the table and walked towards a step in the house. I noticed that the knife had pierced her eye only when I heard her scream.”
